Australia is the natural home of macadamias, and that heritage shapes how they’re grown today. For more than 50 years, Australian growers have been cultivating macadamias on the same fertile soils where the trees first evolved over 60 million years ago.
Sustainability and productivity go hand in hand. Across the industry, growers are finding smarter ways to farm. This includes encouraging biodiversity, using natural pest controls, and adopting innovative practices that support both the environment and long-term supply.
Every grower shares a commitment to producing the world’s best macadamias as responsibly as possible. From family farms to new plantings, there is a strong focus on efficiency and innovation. Renewable energy, along with reusing macadamia shells to power operations, helps reduce waste and reliance on external resources.
Not many of the items you buy on supermarket shelves can be traced back to their source in the same way Australian macadamias can. The majority of macadamias sold in Australia are grown in the birthplace of the macadamia – Northern NSW and South Eastern Queensland. Most orchards in these parts are family-owned by growers who take pride in their commitment to their local communities.
Macadamia orchards are more than just places where trees grow. They are living, breathing ecosystems designed to work in harmony with nature.
Australian macadamia growers combine the best of nature and science to care for their orchards and the land around them.
There is a growing focus on choices that are better for both our health and the planet.
Australian macadamia growers are passionate about conserving water, soil, native vegetation and wildlife – and they match this passion with action!
In macadamia farming, very little goes to waste. What the tree produces beyond the nut is seen as a valuable resource, not a by-product.
