A savoury macadamia crumb can take any meal from mundane to mouthwatering. And it’s so easy!

As a delicious and crunchy topping, a savoury macadamia crumb adds flavour, texture and a touch of ‘specialness’ to a variety of dishes.

Add a creamy crunch to fish, chicken or meat (think lamb cutlets!), or use to add a  delicious vegan protein to a meal’s vegetable centrepiece, like cauliflower steak or roasted sweet potato.

See how easy it is to use macadamias as the perfect special topping tonight!

From mundane to mouthwatering

Whether you are planning a dinner party for friends, a midweek meal for your family or just a simple supper for one, a savoury macadamia crumb is an easy way to make a meal special. Simply blitz the ingredients in a food processor, before spooning over any meat or vegetable that needs a little ‘lift’. Then bake in the oven so that the oils in the macadamias roast, intensifying both the crunch of the crumb and flavour of the nut.

The secrets to savoury crumb success

  • Start with good ingredients, including Australian macadamias
  • Use a food processor for an even crumb
  • Season well with fresh herbs, garlic and lemon.

Step one: Gather your ingredients

Good quality ingredients give the best flavour to any dish. Our recipe calls for raw macadamia nuts, fresh parsley, fresh thyme leaves, garlic, lemon zest and macadamia oil

Step two: Blitz to perfection

Place all ingredients in a food processor and blitz until you get an even crumb. While you could finely chop all the ingredients and mix them together, the food processor gives the mix an even look and texture of a savoury crumb.

Step three: The perfect topping

Add your crumb to salmon, chicken, lamb or cauliflower steaks for a simple-but-special topping. The mix also adds nutty flavour and delicate crunch to baked vegetable dishes, like roasted sweet potato and pumpkin. But its uses don’t stop there! It is a tasty topping for vegetarian and vegan pasta dishes.

Don’t use all your savoury macadamia crumb in one go?

The mix will store in an airtight container for 3-5 days
