Stories

There are so many layers to the macadamia story. From cooking, health and wellbeing to people, gift ideas and macadamia country, there’s a lot to discover about this extraordinary Australian nut. Spend a little time exploring our latest stories. You’ll be amazed at what you find!

How to celebrate this Macadamia Nut Day

4th September is #MacadamiaNutDay. It’s a day to celebrate our special native nuts and the dynamic farming industry that grows them!

Macadamias are delicious, but did you also know they are 100% Australian? Macadamias originated 60 million years ago in ancient rainforests on Australia’s east coast and wild macadamias can still be found growing in secluded pockets of remnant rainforest.

Today, Australia is the leading global producer of this indulgent nut and Aussies can’t get enough of their homegrown flavour. We consume more per capita than anywhere else in the world!

Enter now for your chance to win a macadamia gift box. Entries close Wednesday 4 September 2024.

Rather than just grabbing a healthy handful, Macadamia Nut Day is a day to go crazy celebrating the buttery deliciousness and soft crunch of the nut we all adore.

Here are five ways to celebrate!

  1. Whip up a batch of macadamia and white chocolate biscuits to share with your family. The classic recipe is here.
  1. Share a macadamia recipe on your social media with the #MacadamiaNutDay hashtag. We have hundreds of recipes to choose from in our free recipe library.
  1. Create a fun Instagram Story or Reel and add one of our Macadamia Nut Day GIF stickers that we have created just for the day. Add them to your story by tapping the face icon at the top of the screen, search ‘macadamia nut’ and select your favourite.
  1. Gift your own homemade roasted macadamias to a friend or neighbour to wish them a happy Macadamia Nut Day. It’s a great way to check in with friends during these unsettling times.
  1. Challenge yourself to include macadamias in as many meals as you can on 4 September. In your muesli for breakfast, in macadamia pesto on your sandwich for lunch, as a crust for fish at dinner or sprinkled over ice cream for dessert. The options are endless and extremely delicious!

Of course, you could also just enjoy a healthy handful. A handful of macadamias is a quick snack that promotes heart, brain and gut health! Now that’s something to celebrate!
