Baked pears with macadamias in orange and ginger syrup

Ingredients
4pears
2tbspwhite sugar
2cupsbrown sugar
2cupswater
6slicesgingerpeeled, fresh
1stickcinnamon
2pinchesground cardamom
1cuporange juice
1cupyoghurtgood quality thick
60g(½ cup)macadamiasraw, coarsely chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 200°C.
Peel the pears, cut into quarters and remove the core. Transfer to a baking dish.
Combine the white sugar, brown sugar, water, ginger, cinnamon and cardamom in a saucepan, stir over low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil and cook for 3 minutes. Add the orange juice and bring again to the boil. Pour over the pears.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the pears are tender, stirring occasionally. Serve warm or cold with the yoghurt and sprinkled with macadamias.
