From the very English affair of potted pat\u00e9 and quiche on Hampstead Heath, to a full scale Indian banquet on the lawns of the Taj Mahal, this yearning for the outdoors is as universal as a love of puppies and kittens.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some mysterious reason, Champagne enjoyed in a park tastes just a little bit sweeter, and scroggin &#8211; that nourishing and luxurious combination of nuts, fruit and chocolate &#8211; is much more satisfying after a long hike through the bush.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So where are the best places around Australia to enjoy a picnic?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, macadamia loving friends, we asked and you answered. From over 1150 responses, we can now declare with confidence that the beach is your favourite spot, as 31% of you say this is your preferred picnic option. This is closely followed by parks (20%), national parks (15%), botanic gardens (8%) and nature reserves (7%).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of you even like hanging at home in your own backyard, on your farm or in the garden (7%). Watery places were also popular with lakes, creeks and dams coming in at 5% and 4% of the vote respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-1024x465.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3734\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-1024x465.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-768x349.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-1536x698.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/cycling-lake-burley-griffin-canberra-act-2048x931.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra &#8211; Image credit Tourism Australia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You also generously shared the details of your favourite picnic places in your state or territory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top spots are;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Refined<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/visitcanberra.com.au\/attractions\/56b23ba53ed14ca745318326\/commonwealth-park\" target=\"_blank\"> Commonwealth Park<\/a> and and the large and lovely water playground of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/visitcanberra.com.au\/attractions\/56b23b58d5f1565045d801cf\/lake-burley-griffin\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Burley Griffin<\/a> were the top two places named in Australia\u2019s Capital Territory, along with the unspoilt beaches of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitnsw.com\/destinations\/south-coast\/beaches\" target=\"_blank\">South Coast.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nt.gov.au\/leisure\/parks-reserves\/find-a-park-to-visit\/berry-springs-nature-park\" target=\"_blank\">Berry Springs Nature Park <\/a>near Darwin with its ample shade and native flowers and birdlife was your top pick for a picnic for the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The clear winner for South Australia was&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/zh\/our-nut-hub\/blog\/(https:\/\/www.environment.sa.gov.au\/botanicgardens\/home)\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adelaide Botanic Gardens<\/a>. The Adelaide Hills, renowned for its varied seasonal landscape, specifically <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.environment.sa.gov.au\/parks\/find-a-park\/Browse_by_region\/Adelaide_Hills\/morialta-conservation-park\" target=\"_blank\">Morialta Falls<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.environment.sa.gov.au\/parks\/find-a-park\/Browse_by_region\/Adelaide_Hills\/belair-national-park\" target=\"_blank\">Belair National Park<\/a> were also a popular vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-1024x465.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3733\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-1024x465.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-768x349.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-1536x698.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/adelaide-botanic-garden-a-popular-picnic-spot-2-2048x931.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Adelaide Botanic Gardens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TAS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>National Parks and Reserves were identified as the best spots in Tassie to plonk down and soak up the great outdoors over a long, lazy lunch, especially the peaceful river valley of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverburnie.net\/what-to-see\/fernglade.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fernglade Reserve<\/a>, along with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.launcestoncataractgorge.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Cataract Gorge<\/a> and&nbsp;the much loved<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parks.tas.gov.au\/?base=3589\" target=\"_blank\"> Mount Field National Park<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VIC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rbg.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Botanic Gardens<\/a> was a hit with Victorians, but most people chose the beach as their favourite picnic location, with hotspots including Brighton Beach and Williamstown Beach. In the hinterland, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.discovertamborine.com.au\/tamborine-mountain-attractions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Tamborine<\/a> and panoramic city views <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brisbanelookout.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Coot-tha<\/a> were your favourite places to throw down a rug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NSW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>New South Welshmen are beach enthusiasts too, with 25% of respondents naming the beach as their number one place to go including Bondi, Bronte and Ballina beach. Beyond this, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitnsw.com\/destinations\/blue-mountains\" target=\"_blank\">Blue Mountains<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.centennialparklands.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Centennial Park<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.australianbotanicgarden.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Australian Botanic Garden<\/a> at Mount Annan were also top picks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Have we missed anything?
