Being a contributor to \u2018Delicious\u2019 magazine adds to his impressive list of experience, and when he\u2019s not doing all that he spends time with his family, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.australian-macadamias.org\/zh\/a-macadamia-moment-with-magdalena-roze\/\">Magdalena Roze<\/a> and sons Archie and Charlie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darren has created a special macadamia, miso and chocolate palmier to celebrate Macadamia Nut Day 2022 so we were thrilled to stop and take a macadamia moment with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When did you discover your love of food?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be honest I started my apprenticeship at seventeen so I could travel the world with a skill.&nbsp; After a couple years I was lucky enough to work with some pretty incredible chefs and cooking began to take over my life.&nbsp; The world of food is endlessly fascinating, I&#8217;m still constantly learning and still love it many years down the track.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Ce-5imQP0OV\/\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where do you look for inspiration when you are creating a recipe or menu?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The farmers markets are probably the biggest inspiration, my favourite is New Brighton Farmers Market which is held every Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the one ingredient you can\u2019t live without?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffee&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you remember when you first tried a macadamia nut?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not exactly sure when, but I&#8217;m pretty sure it was covered in milk chocolate, I was quite intrigued by the texture and quite possibly finished the lot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s your favourite way to enjoy macadamias?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So many ways!
